I went with the pneumatic ProLink deluxe package offered by Dreamworks. It comes with electronic valves and the gear are really nice. A little expensive, but probably the best setup available for one...

I'm planning on using small screws on mine. Probably several, all around the perimeter.
I think that stuff is made out of stainless steel.

Callie does some great work and is very, very reasonable in cost. Your $50 cost is about the most expensive thing I've seen produced. I'm sure your project is probably a little labor...
